In AD 400, Paulinus of Nola introduced church bells into the Christian Church. In AD 604, Pope Sabinia, officially sanctioned their usage. By the early Middle Ages, church bells became common in Europe. They were first common in northern Europe, reflecting Celtic influence, especially that of Irish missionaries.
Saint William’s Parish would like to have bell ringers for the Call to Mass before each Mass. Normally the Call to Mass occurs five minutes before the start of Mass. If you have an interest in ringing the Parish Bell before Mass, please contact Larry Batcheldor at slolarry@stwilliams.org.
